Welcome to Prosperity Place Alpacas. Our farm name represents our philosophy on life. Prosperity is not about money, it’s about relationships. It’s a mindset that allows us to prosper in every area of our life; Faith, Family, Friendships, and Finances. It’s what drives our decision making processes and interactions with others. It’s why every purchase or sale is more about building a relationship, than making a buck. We don’t offer “after-sale support”; we build a relationship where ongoing assistance flows as the natural byproduct, not a contractual obligation. We believe that as we help our friends and partners fulfill their dreams, ours will naturally be realized as the normal result of prosperous relationships.

We started our Alpaca herd in 2003 on 2.5 acres in North Bend, WA located in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, with one 6 month old maiden. Since then our herd has grown through both purchases and births on our farm. Once our herd hit 10, we decided it was time to expand our capacity. We found a beautiful piece of property 2 hours south on 10 acres in Morton, WA; still in the foothills of the Cascades between Mt. Rainier & Mt. St. Helens. The land came with a 95 year house - one of the original homesteads, a 75 year old carriage house - currently used as alpaca cover, and the barn of Sondra’s dreams, a 5 stall Mississippi Valley Barn – can horses be far behind? This farm represents a dream come true for Sondra, who grew up on a small 20 acre farm, and always wanted to get back to her roots. Kevin grew up as a city boy in Long Beach , CA , but has taken to the country life like a fish to water. It must be the brand new tractor he got to buy when we moved in.
For us, the hardest part of raising Alpacas was figuring out which direction to take our breeding program and how best to get there. While it’s taken us a few years to fully realize our vision of breeding for a variety of colors with fine, dense, crimpy fleece; we’re very pleased with our success to date. To that end we handpick each herdsire for each dam based on their individual traits, thus continually improving the quality of every new cria, as well as the individual bloodlines represented. Obviously, this takes both a commitment to research and extensive amounts of time. We prefer our alpacas to be a bit on the smaller side of average. Not tiny, just a bit smaller. We like our females to look feminine and our males to look proud and strong. These preferences are also taken into consideration when we select our herdsires. I guess we like our alpacas to look good and to feel good too. Lastly, we love color. If variety is the spice of life, then we represent that through a rainbow of soft, lustrous color.
Raising alpacas is less a business than it is a way of life for us. We very much enjoy caring for our herd. We spend time each and every day with our animals, one on one. It’s not our desire to be a huge mega-farm with hundreds of animals starving for quality attention. We prefer a more intimate environment where the personality of every animal can be discussed in detail.

We invite anyone with any level of interest in Alpacas to contact us for a farm visit. From veteran alpacas breeders to the newest person introduced to these magical creatures, we love to share our love and knowledge of these animals with anyone who’s interested.
